Reclaim the space the stump took
A stump left behind after a removal is a trip hazard, a mowing headache and a home for termites and fungi. Some species also keep sprouting from the stump for years.
Our stump grinders chew the stump down below ground level, along with the major surface roots, leaving a clean, level area ready for turf, garden beds or paving. We have machines that fit through side gates and larger grinders for open sites and big stumps.
We include debris removal, so the area is tidy and ready to use. If you’re building or need every root out, full stump removal may suit you better.

Why grind the stump
No trip hazard
The stump is gone below ground level, so the area is safe and easy to mow.
No regrowth
Grinding stops most species from sprouting back from the stump.
Fewer pests
Rotting stumps attract termites and fungi. Grinding removes the food source.
Ready to landscape
Turf, plant or pave straight over the area.
Quick and tidy
Most backyard stumps are done in under an hour, with little disruption.
Useful grindings
Keep the grindings as mulch, or we’ll take them away.
Grinding or full removal?
Grinding is the faster, cheaper option for most yards. It removes the stump and surface roots to below ground level, which is enough for turf, gardens and most landscaping.
If you’re pouring a slab, building a pool or need every root out of the ground, stump removal extracts the whole stump and root ball instead. We’ll recommend the right option when we quote.
- Grinding: best for lawns, gardens and paving
- Removal: best for slabs, pools and building sites
- Both: we clean up and leave the area level

Stump Grinding questions
How deep do you grind stumps?
We grind below ground level, deep enough for turf or garden beds. If you need extra depth for a specific project, tell us when you book.
What does stump grinding cost?
It depends on the stump’s diameter, the species, access, and how many stumps there are. We give you a fixed price when we quote, and multiple stumps on one visit cost less each.
Can your grinder fit through my side gate?
In most cases, yes. We have compact machines for narrow backyard access and larger grinders for open sites.
What happens to the grindings?
You can keep them as mulch for your garden, or we’ll remove them and leave the area clean.
