One crew for every tree job in Cairns
From a single overhanging branch to clearing a development block, we have the qualifications, the people and the machinery to do it safely.
Advanced Vegetation Management has been working across Cairns since 2010. Founder Mike Dowling brings more than 20 years in arboriculture, a Diploma of Arboriculture (AQF Level 5) and a Diploma of Forest and Forest Products, and our team of qualified arborists and apprentices works to Australian Standards on every job.
We own and run our own elevated work platforms, stump grinders, wood chippers, excavators and trucks, and work alongside crane operators for removals over houses, pools and power lines.

Pruning and removal are dangerous jobs, and a lot of tree work in Cairns is done by people without arboriculture training. Poor cuts and unsafe felling cause more damage than they fix.

Common questions
How much does tree removal cost in Cairns?
It depends on the tree’s size, species and condition, how close it is to buildings or power lines, access for machinery, and whether you want the stump ground and the green waste removed. We give you a fixed price after a site visit, and that’s the price you pay. See tree removal for what affects the cost.
Do I need council approval to remove a tree?
Some trees are protected under local planning rules, and the rules differ between Cairns, Douglas, Tablelands and Cassowary Coast councils. We check this during the quote and can prepare the arborist report and application for you.
Do you handle storm damage after hours?
Yes. For a fallen or split tree that’s threatening a house, car or power line, call our after-hours line on 0447 925 135. Read more about emergency and storm work.
Are you qualified and insured?
Yes. Our consulting arborists hold AQF Level 5 qualifications, we’re members of the Queensland Arboricultural Association and VALID tree risk assessors, and we carry public liability insurance.
Can you take the stump and green waste too?
Yes. We can grind the stump below ground level, chip the branches and remove the logs, or leave the mulch on site for your garden if you’d like it.
